Terms of Service

Current is a customer relationship manager for people who work a list of prospects by phone. These terms cover how you may use it. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.

Plans, and the service as it is

Current has a free plan, and may introduce paid plans with more capacity or features. If we change what your plan includes, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Nobody is moved onto a paid plan, or charged, without choosing to be.

The service comes with no warranty of any kind. It is actively being built, which means features change, and it may be unavailable at times. Do not use it as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. You can export everything you have put in, at any time, from Settings — and you should, periodically.

We may change or discontinue the service. If we ever plan to shut it down, we will give notice and time to export, because the alternative would be indefensible.

Your account

You need an account, you are responsible for what happens under it, and you must give a real email address so we can reach you about the service. Do not share credentials. If you invite people into a workspace, you are responsible for who you invite and what they can see — everyone in a workspace can read and change the prospects in it.

Your data is yours

You keep all rights to the prospects, notes, recordings and everything else you put into Current. We claim no ownership of it and will not sell it, mine it, or use it to train anything. We access it only to run the service, fix a fault, or when the law requires it.

You can export all of it as CSV or JSON whenever you like, and you can delete your account from Settings. Deleting removes your sign-in and any workspace only you belong to. Backups are kept for a short period after that and then expire.

Calling and recording is your responsibility

Current is a tool you use to place calls. You are the caller. That distinction matters, because the laws governing calls apply to the person making them.

• You are responsible for complying with the rules on unsolicited calls — in the United States that includes the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and federal and state do-not-call registries.
• You are responsible for consent to record. Most of the United States requires only one party to agree; fourteen states require everyone on the call. Calling into one of those from elsewhere generally brings you under the stricter rule.
• You are responsible for how you store, share and dispose of recordings of other people.

Recording is off unless you switch it on. When it is on, the person you call hears a disclosure before you are connected — by default only where the law requires it, and you can change that to always or never. Choosing never is a decision with legal consequences, and it is yours.

Telephony is provided by Twilio and is subject to their terms and acceptable use policy as well as these. You must not use Current for calls that are unlawful, harassing, deceptive, or that misrepresent who is calling.

What you may not do

• Upload data you have no right to hold, or that you obtained unlawfully.
• Attempt to reach another workspace's data, or to break the service for others.
• Resell Current, or use it to build a substantially similar product.
• Work around the limits on the free plan, whether by script, extra accounts, or otherwise.

We can suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export.

Limits

Every workspace has allowances — prospects, people, workspaces — shown in Settings. They exist so that one account cannot exhaust what everyone shares, and they may change as the service grows. If a change would reduce what you already have, we will tell you before it takes effect.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Current is provided without warranty and we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and contact

If these terms change materially, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. Questions about any of this can go to the address in the privacy policy.
